As experienced New Home builders in the State of Florida, we at American Housing Builders, Inc. know the importance of building durable homes using quality building products.

Although there are many, many, reasons to live in Florida, Florida is still prone to severe storms. Even though the chances are very slim that you will ever get a direct hit from a hurricane, you still want to be as prepared as possible if it does happen.
Because there is always the slight chance of a severe storm, we have designed our homes that are built in storm prone areas to include protection for all exterior doors and windows. Our overhead garage doors are designed to withstand winds in a major storm, the sides and back of our homes are protected with storm panels and the front of our homes are designed with either storm panels or impact resistant windows.
We do occasionally build homes in a Flood zoned area, but even when we do, we build them above the minimum required flood height. Hot water heaters, air conditioning equipment and all appliances are set above the minimum flood height to help protect them during any unlikely storm.

The Red Cross recommends you have six basics in a Survival Kit in the event of an emergency:

  • Water
  • Food
  • First Aid Supplies
  • Clothing and Bedding
  • Tools and emergency supplies
  • Special items for medical reasons
